Tell us more about yourself

I am Ilse van de Peppel, 22 years old and I live with my family in Veenendaal. Fortunately, I don't have to travel up and down every day because my boyfriend lives in Arnhem. Convenient for my school and graduation.

I am currently in the final year of my ICT studies at the Hogeschool Arnhem Nijmegen. My third year internship was focused on Front-end development, while my graduation will also focus on Back-end development. Nice to get to know more aspects of the development world this way!

Music is always on at home. I love dubstep, rock, heavy metal and lately Green Day is frequently playing through my speakers. I recently saw them live, which was really cool. I also enjoy gaming.

What made you come back to “our” base?

That's easy: the atmosphere. I feel at home in the team. Every third Wednesday of the month is a fixed item in my calendar, that's when game night is organized. I also have a revenge for a game of pool with Christiaan. Of course I couldn't let that pass me by.

And, last but not least, I find my graduation very interesting.

What exactly will you be doing at Orange Juice?

Orange Juice creates Umbraco websites, which allow customers to post their own content. This was always done more from a generic environment. After the recent update of Umbraco, it has become easier to personalize the environment per customer.

During my graduation I get to find out what possibilities this update offers: which features are useful? What options are there to personalize? What are we missing, and wanting? Eventually, I also get to make the translation into the system myself. Super interesting.

The goal is to use this to improve the Umbraco management experience. To do this, I will be working internally with both the development and online marketing teams.

What do you want to learn during your internship?

I find it interesting that I will now be doing more with Back-end development, after focusing on Front-end in my third year.

In fact, with my assignment I am going to learn about the Back-end of Umbraco. I'm curious to see how it all works technically.

What gives you energy?

I am energized by alone time. I recharge when I am alone and have time to open a book. Or when I can enjoy gaming or listening to music. After some me-time I like to do something with friends/family. You really make me happy with competitive games. And yes, I like to win. Losing is a shame ;-)

I like that at Orange Juice there is also time for games. Whether it's with a game of pool or table tennis during the break, or during game night: I'm there!
